Mold Remediation for Contents
When mold reaches your belongings, structural remediation isn't enough.
Most mold remediation companies focus on the structure — walls, floors, framing. We focus on what's in the rooms. Your furniture, clothing, books, and household items need their own dedicated remediation process.
Time matters: Call as soon as mold is identified. Spores spread and contamination grows daily.
What happens to your contents
- 1Mold spores embed in porous materials and continue growing if conditions are right.
- 2Surface cleaning kills visible mold but doesn't address spores in fibers.
- 3Some materials (heavily contaminated upholstery, certain paper goods) cannot be safely restored and must be documented and replaced.
- 4Cross-contamination is real — items packed near moldy items can become contaminated.
How we restore it
Triage on-site
We assess every item before transport. What can be restored, what can't, what needs special handling — documented before anything moves.
Containment during transport
Moldy contents move in sealed containment to prevent cross-contamination of your other belongings or our facility.
HEPA-filtered processing
Restoration happens in a controlled environment with HEPA filtration. Spores don't escape into the facility or back into your home.
Full documentation
Every item that can't be restored is photographed and itemized for your insurance claim.
What we restore
- Hard contents (furniture, glassware, ceramics)
- Many textiles with appropriate treatment
- Electronics (after cleaning and testing)
- Some books and paper goods
- Art on appropriate substrates
Frequently asked questions
- Is mold-damaged furniture worth restoring?
- It depends on construction. Solid wood and high-end upholstery — often yes. Particleboard and budget furniture — usually not. We're honest about which is which.
- Will the mold come back?
- Not if the source moisture is fixed. We treat your contents; the structural remediation team needs to fix the underlying water issue.
- Can mold be removed from clothing?
- Most clothing yes, depending on contamination level. We have specific protocols for textile mold remediation.
